Get closer to local life, hospitality and traditions in Socma through an experience connected with the community.
Walter was born in Socma and grew up among mountains, trails, waterfalls, animals and the traditions of his community. He first learned the language of his community and began speaking Spanish at around the age of 15. To attend secondary school, he walked approximately 20 kilometers every day to Urubamba for five years. Later, he traveled to Lima to prepare himself and gain new knowledge. When he had the choice to stay away or return home, he chose to return to Socma.
He returned to Socma to work, contribute and turn into reality ideas he had imagined for his community for a long time.
He participated in the alignment of electrification projects and the opening of roads, while also promoting different initiatives to improve living conditions in Socma.
He designed and opened the Downhill Extremo Socma route, and discovered, designed and opened the tourist route to Apu Qory Sonqo. He opened the latter with his own hands, using a pick and shovel, step by step.
He walked to learn. He returned to serve. He worked to transform. And now he opens his paths to the world.Read Walter’s story
